National used car dealership drives into Round Rock

DriveTime Automotive Group Inc., a used car sales and finance company based in Phoenix, is opening a new location in Round Rock.

Located at 2335 I-35 South, the new DriveTime dealership will officially open for business Friday. It is the third new location for DriveTime in the Austin area within the past five months.

The company also recently opened locations at I-35 and Stassney Lane in South Austin and I-35 and Wonsley Drive in North Austin.

"The new stores we have opened recently in Texas are exciting for DriveTime. We're working to improve our facilities with strategic relocations in tandem with our aggressive growth efforts, and we are on track to meet our goal of expanding our business to over 85 stores nationwide," says Jon Ehlinger, general counsel and vice president of public relations for DriveTime.

"Our enhanced presence in Texas will enable us to continue to provide superior service to our clients in this region."

The new Round Rock dealership rests on 6.3 acres of land, and has a 5,000-square-foot office with a 20,000-square-foot inspection center with 18 service bays. Once it is fully operational, the new location will employ about 30 people.

DriveTime, which targets low-income car buyers and people with poor credit, currently has 20 dealerships in Austin, Dallas and San Antonio. The company plans to have a total 100 dealerships by the end of 2006.

In all, the opening of the three Austin area stores will provide more than 50 jobs and contribute more than $1 million in annual sales tax revenue, according to DriveTime.
